People have an inherent curiosity with how others live. A door possesses a potential and a curiosity that behind it there is the unknown. In rural Ireland it is now common for houses to be abandoned and left to degrade. Generations of homes are left either on the unsold property market or abandoned. The objects left behind leave the mark of the inhabitant on the building, reflecting the habits, routine and life they lived. The idea of leaving the house untouched after death is a romantic one, reasons varying from case to case. Mostly they seem to be left out of respect for the dead. In this series I travelled to such houses. There is a solemness experienced when observing these spaces. A sense of intrusion. A sense of sadness.
